The lowest quote is not always the best quote. Compare the written scope, materials, timeline, exclusions, warranty terms, and payment expectations side by side.

Use the same checklist

• What problem is being solved?
• What materials or products are included?
• What is excluded?
• When can the work start and finish?
• What happens if hidden damage is found?
• What warranty or workmanship terms apply?

Keep written notes from each provider so you can compare the same categories side by side. The Federal Trade Commission recommends getting multiple written estimates and says an estimate should describe the work, materials, completion date, and price.
